Abstract
Fibromyalgia is chronic, generalized pain disorder which usually presents with sleep disorder, fatigue, depression, paresthesia or headache. The exact etiology is still unknown, but researches have revealed that it is not the disease of
peripheral tissue, but the disease within the central nervous system where pain stimuli are processed.Preliminary Diagnostic Criteria for fibromyalgia was recently proposed by the American College of Rheumatology in 2010. This was modified in 2011, where rather vague evaluation of somatic symptom was eliminated. Treatment for fibromyalgia involves both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic modalities. Pregabalin, duloxetine, and milnacipran is known to be effective, and patient education, cognitive behavior therapy, aerobic exercise are also effective. For the effective treatment of fibromyalgia, evaluation of possible pain source and psychosocial factors which can cause of aggravate pain is necessary.
